Privacy, Confidentiality & Crisis Support in Tsawwassen, Delta

Knowing that your personal information is completely secure allows you to engage in therapy with true peace of mind. We maintain strict privacy standards at our South Delta clinic, meaning your personal information and session charts are never shared among our staff or therapists without your explicit permission. Alongside this commitment to confidentiality, we also provide clear direction on how to access immediate emergency medical help when safety requires it

Your Personal Privacy is Protected by Law

Trust is the most important element of professional healthcare. Everything you discuss with your counsellor during your appointments remains entirely confidential. Your attendance, personal history, and session notes are legally protected under British Columbia privacy laws and professional clinical regulations.

No information regarding your care can be shared with family members, employers, insurance companies, or outside medical professionals without your explicit written permission. Your records are stored on secure, encrypted health platforms to ensure your data remains completely private.

Understanding the Boundaries of Clinical Privacy

Professional regulations require specific, narrow boundaries to clinical confidentiality to ensure public safety. A counsellor is legally obligated to share information with appropriate authorities only under the following rare circumstances:

  • There is a clear and immediate risk that a client intends to inflict severe harm or death upon themselves.

  • There is an explicit threat of immediate harm or violence toward another identifiable person.

  • There is a reasonable suspicion or disclosure involving the abuse, neglect, or harm of a child or a vulnerable adult.

  • A judge issues a legal subpoena requiring the release of specific records for a court proceeding.

Scheduled Office Appointments and Virtual Care Limits

Care at Monument Health is structured entirely around scheduled, non-emergency daytime appointments. You can access face-to-face sessions at our Tsawwassen office or connect online through secure virtual video counselling. Because our staff are in session with clients throughout the day, we cannot monitor phone lines or emails continuously, and we do not provide on-call crisis intervention or after-hours emergency tracking.

For Immediate Support

Monument Health is not an emergency or 24-hour crisis clinic. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 9-1-1 or visit the nearest emergency room. You can also contact the BC Crisis Centre for immediate support.
